NeoGraft™ and Strip Extraction

Understanding the differences between NeoGraft™ and strip extraction helps our patients make informed decisions about their hair restoration. We have provided comparisons between these two techniques based on the most common questions from our hair restoration patients.

Donor Hair Collection

For strip extraction, a strip of the scalp is removed from the side or back of the patient’s head. The excision requires a significant incision that is sutured or stapled.

NeoGraft™ is based on the minimally invasive Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) technique that harvests individual hair follicles rather than strips of scalp.

Viable Hair Grafts

Strip extraction is a lengthy process, and many of the hair follicles are not viable once transplanted. As a result, patients may need several procedures to achieve the fullness they desire.

Because NeoGraft™ is a fully automated system, hair grafts are placed more quickly in the treatment area. This increases the likelihood that the grafts will be successful.

Strip extraction is an extensive and often painful method of hair transplantation. Patients must heal from the extensive incision made during the scalp excision as well as the many tiny incisions needed to place the grafts.

The NeoGraft™ system uses the FUE technique for harvesting donor hair follicles. This technique reduces patient discomfort during and after the procedure. Downtime is minimal.

Patient Cost

Hair transplantation can be cost prohibitive for many men and women, so we want to offer our patients an affordable option that gives them superior results. When considering the cost of hair restoration, you should understand the various services that are included. The total cost of surgical procedures includes medical staff, facilities, anesthesia, and many other aspects. The lengthy process required by strip extraction means that your costs are higher due to the time required. NeoGraft™, however, is a much faster hair restoration process, so your costs are lower and you have better results!
