We offer a variety of dermal fillers at our Philadelphia-area practice, including Sculptra® Aesthetic. If you would like to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, lines, or hollow pockets on your skin, Sculptra® Aesthetic can provide long-term results. Unlike some dermal filler options, which can be absorbed into the body in as little as three months, Sculptra® Aesthetic continues to work over an extended period of time by promoting collagen growth. It is this aspect that makes Sculptra® Aesthetic a unique option, and a popular one with our patients. If you are interested in learning more about Sculptra® Aesthetic and live in the Philadelphia area, we invite you to contact our Bala Cynwyd plastic surgery office today to schedule a free consultation with Dr. Paul Glat.
Unlike most types of dermal filler, which can be administered in one quick treatment, Sculptra® Aesthetic usually requires 3 sessions, spaced out over the course of several months. This unique treatment plan is required because Sculptra® Aesthetic is designed to promote the production of collagen over time, so that the patient can experience long-term benefits. Collagen is one of the primary structural elements of the skin, but it can degrade or break down as we age. Sculptra® Aesthetic, a polylactic acid, replaces lost collagen and promotes new growth, so that wrinkles, lines, and deep pockets can be filled in. Because Sculptra® Aesthetic works to restore collagen structure in the dermis long after your injection treatment, visible results can last for up to two years.
Each treatment session may require more than one injection, and topical anesthetic may be applied for the patient's comfort. During your initial consultation with Dr. Glat, he will determine the best method to meet your goals and ensure your comfort and satisfaction. There may be some swelling immediately after treatment, but this typically subsides in a couple of days. Because the treatment is spread out amongst several sessions, results will become progressively better over time.
The biggest advantage of Sculptra® Aesthetic over other dermal filler treatments is the duration of the results. Most dermal fillers are absorbed into the body after 3 to 6 months, at which point they stop being effective; Sculptra® Aesthetic produces new collagen, which fills in deep pockets, wrinkles, and facial lines, resulting in a smoother, healthier, and more youthful appearance. Because new volume comes as a result of the body's natural processes rather than artificial filler, results can last significantly longer.
Patients who undergo Sculptra® Aesthetic treatment often experience improved self-confidence and self-esteem. Reducing the appearance of conspicuous wrinkles can make a person look years younger than he or she actually is, and this can have a tremendous impact on his or her self-image. With improved confidence, a person is more likely to make a positive impression on others, be more social, and be more amenable with friends, family, and strangers.
Individuals seeking immediate results from a quick treatment should not undergo Sculptra® Aesthetic treatment. A number of treatments are available that would be better suited for such individuals, including BOTOX® Cosmetic, JUVÉDERM™, and Radiesse®. However, if you are looking for long-term benefits and a treatment that will naturally restore your looks, Sculptra® Aesthetic may be for you.
