Eyebrow restoration in Philadelphia is a simple surgical outpatient procedure done under a local anesthetic in Dr. Paul M. Glat's office here on the Main Line. It takes approximately three to four hour-long to complete. Initially, a surgical marker will be used to draw an outline of your eyebrows. The shape of the drawing will maintain normal anatomical position and symmetry which will have been previously discussed in your preoperative consultation.
After outlining your eyebrows, you will be given a mirror and the opportunity to view the design and provide feedback before proceeding further with the eye brow restoration surgical procedure. After receiving a local anesthetic to numb the areas of your face and donor site, we begin the surgical procedure by removing hair follicles from your donor site.
Automated FUE with NeoGraft makes this portion of the procedure easier to perform compared to the older STRIP method. Rather than removing a small strip of hair with a surgical scalpel from your donor area of the scalp, automated FUE with NeoGraft removes single follicular units from the donor area with a 0.8mm punch biopsy. This technique does not leave a scar and no sutures are used. As a general rule we obtain hair from side of the head that matches as closely as possible your eyebrow hair.
Single hair grafts work well in the delicate brow area, so the precision of placement is critical. Our hair restoration expert takes pride in meticulously placing each and every follicular graft in terms of the correct direction of the hair and the correct angle. Attention is paid to the creation of a lovely rise of the arch or the enhancement of the existing arch. Depending upon your individual genetics and healing, your eyebrow hair desired density may require more than one procedure. Generally, 150- 250 grafts are placed in each brow.
