PRP for Hair Restoration in Philadelphia, PA

Patients who are experiencing thinning hair can achieve a full head of hair safely and naturally using PRP for hair restoration. This revolutionary procedure is available for patients by visiting the office of board certified Philadelphia plastic surgeon Dr. Paul M. Glat.

What is PRP for Hair Restoration?

PRP for hair restoration involves the use of Platelet Rich Plasma to stimulate the body’s own hair growth. The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis and requires no downtime whatsoever. Since it is a minimally-invasive procedure, there is no discomfort associated with it either.

Benefits of PRP for Hair Restoration

People regularly choose PRP for hair restoration because it is such a simple procedure. It can also provide some tremendous benefits, a few of which include:

  • Little to no risk of reaction
  • Stimulates the growth of hair follicles
  • Can reduce miniaturization, which is the shrinking of hair follicles
  • Provides positive results for both men and women
  • Benefits are seen gradually over time, making it less likely others will notice you’ve undergone a procedure

How is PRP for Hair Restoration Performed?

Dr. Glat will begin by gently numbing the area to be treated with a local anesthetic. While waiting for it to take effect, a staff member will collect a sample of your blood so it can be “spun” in a special machine. This machine is designed to separate solids and liquids to create a solution that has an extremely high concentration of platelets. PRP is then placed in a syringe so it can be injected just below the scalp’s surface. A single procedure can take between 60 and 90 minutes.

Preparing for PRP for Hair Restoration

Wash your hair thoroughly just before a treatment session to ensure your scalp is clean. Avoid using hairspray or styling products on it during this time.

Recovery from PRP for Hair Restoration

Your scalp may feel slightly numb just after a treatment, but this feeling should go away on its own within a couple of hours. In the meantime, you are free to resume normal activities.

How much does PRP for Hair Restoration Cost?

This will depend on the extent of thinning hair and the exact results you are trying to achieve. As such, the cost is different for everyone and can only be discussed after undergoing a consultation. We offer CareCredit® as a financing option. Also, check our Current Specials.

Is PRP for Hair Restoration Right for Me?

If you have thinning hair, PRP can be an effective method to help you regrow it. It cannot be used to fill in bald spots. Your scalp should be in good condition with no open sores or lesions.
