Rhinoplasty in Bryn Mawr, PA
Residents of Bryn Mawr, PA, trust Dr. Paul M. Glat, MD, FACS, to perform their rhinoplasty procedure.
What is Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty is cosmetic surgery to improve the appearance of the nose. It is often referred to as a “nose job” and is one of the most popular forms of cosmetic surgery today. A rhinoplasty procedure can alter any aspect of the nose’s shape; its size, its angle, its straightness, and even the shape of the tip of the nose.
Benefits of Rhinoplasty
For some individuals with defects or injuries of the interior structure of the nose, rhinoplasty can relieve nasal congestion, help with sleep apnea, and improve breathing. For most individuals, rhinoplasty is a purely cosmetic procedure. Injuries to the nose can cause bumps and crookedness. Other individuals are simply born with asymmetrical noses, or with noses that fit poorly with the rest of their face. A rhinoplasty procedure can dramatically improve the symmetry and proportions of any face.
How is Rhinoplasty Performed?
Incisions are made inside the nose to access the bone and cartilage. Depending on the desired results, bone and cartilage may be removed or re-positioned. In some cases, filler tissues or materials are added. If necessary, internal structures, such as a deviated septum, are corrected. Once Dr. Glat is satisfied with the results, the incisions are closed. Full recovery takes several weeks.
