Tummy Tuck in Havertown, PA
Dr. Paul M. Glat, MD, FACS, performs tummy tucks in Havertown, PA.
What Is a Tummy Tuck?
A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a cosmetic surgical procedure performed to remove excess fat and skin from a patient’s abdomen. This body contouring procedure allows the patient to have a tighter, more attractive stomach. Tummy tucks can be done to remove sagging skin after weight loss and are sometimes performed along with liposuction procedures.
How Is a Tummy Tuck Performed?
When Dr. Glat performs a tummy tuck, he first makes a horizontal incision between the patient’s hips, just above the pelvis. Then he frees the navel with another incision. After moving the skin away from the abdominal wall, Dr. Glat tightens the exposed abdominal muscles and fascia through suturing. He then stretches the abdominal skin back over the muscles, removing excess skin and stitching the trimmed skin into place. He repositions the skin around the navel area to reconstruct the belly button.
