Tummy Tuck in Newtown Square, PA

Dr. Paul Glat offers tummy tucks to patients in the Newtown Square, PA area.

What is a tummy tuck?

An abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck” is performed to increase the firmness of the abdomen. The procedure involves removing excess fat and skin from the lower and middle abdomen to tighten the muscle of the abdominal wall. Tummy tucks are often sought by those with sagging tissue after pregnancy or significant weight loss.

How is a tummy tuck performed?

During the procedure, an incision is made just above the pubic area, reaching from hip to hip. Another incision frees the navel from the skin surrounding it. The skin is detached from the abdominal wall and sutures are used to tighten the muscle fascia wall. Excess fluid is drained from the site. A compression garment and a dressing are applied.
