A breast lift or a mastopexy is a procedure that involves lifting the breast tissue. Typically what happens is, as one ages, the nipple position drops and women complain of droopiness or sagging of the breast. What a mastopexy involves is actually lifting the nipple position to a more normal position and what this involves is incisions around the nipple as well as possibly some incisions under the nipple and under the breast. This can be done in conjunction with an implant or it can be done without an implant being placed, but the goal of the procedure is to elevate the nipple to a more normal position. This is about a one-week recovery after your surgery, after which time you can resume your normal activities and typically, the scars will mature over three to six months at which time they’ll become less noticeable and less visible.
