ThermiRF™ in Philadelphia
Located in Bala Cynwyd and serving Philadelphia and South Jersey, Dr. Paul M. Glat, MD, FACS, and his highly-trained staff, is now offering one of the biggest breakthroughs in the anti-aging industry — ThermiRF™, also known as “Symphony RF”.
Patients who have concerns regarding wrinkles, loose skin, and other irregularities often consider non-surgical procedures that use radio frequency skin tightening for rejuvenation. ThermiRF™ is a skin-tightening laser treatment that targets deeper subdermal skin layers. The laser heats the subdermal layer, which causes that layer to produce collagen naturally. The doctor or staff member controls the heat very carefully, and this produces natural-looking, smooth results on the surface of the skin.
Best Candidates for ThermiRF™
ThermiRF™ treats a number of conditions affecting the skin, including loose skin, wrinkles, and cellulite. Patients who are not yet ready for surgical options often consider ThermiRF™ as a viable alternative. Doctors currently use the technology to reduce cellulite in the thighs and abdomen, to tighten and lift skin on the face and neck, and to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the eyelids or forehead. In fact, ThermiRF™ works on nearly any part of the body to treat many issues. It even mimics Botox® treatments to an extent when it is used to treat excessive sweating or to reduce the function of nerves.
Benefits of ThermiRF™
- Safe for all skin types and pigments
- Very little or no downtime
- No surgery needed
- Minimal discomfort
ThermiRF™ Procedure Process
ThermiRF™ is an outpatient procedure given during a standard office visit and requires no anesthesia. Before getting started, Dr. Glat or a staff member will mark the treatment areas clearly and apply a cool gel to the surface of the skin. Then, a small circular handheld device that emits RF waves rolls across the skin gently, targeting the skin just under the surface at the cellular level.
A tiny probe emits the RF waves according to the temperature set by Dr. Glat or the staff member. They heat the tissue just to the temperature required to stimulate collagen production.
What to Expect
Patients do feel the heat from the laser, but there is rarely any pain or discomfort. After the treatment, some redness and swelling are normal. This may last anywhere from several hours to a day, depending on the patient, but patients are permitted to resume their everyday activities immediately. Although some patients see results just a few hours after the treatment, it does take several months to see the full effects. Collagen production is a slow process. What’s more, some patients may require several treatment sessions. Once Dr. Glat or our staff member achieves the desired results, they may last from one to two years.
Is Radiofrequency Safe?
RF technology is safe in plastic surgery and dermatology according to a number of clinical studies. It is common in many different types of medicine, including not only plastic surgery, but also pain management and cardiovascular therapies.
How Does ThermiRF™ Tighten Skin?
Many of the treatment options out there today only heat skin from the surface, and while this leads to the deposition of collagen at the heating site, the treatment’s efficacy is limited by the patient’s tolerance. Patients who undergo traditional RF therapies also require several follow-up sessions, and these are as uncomfortable as the first. ThermiRF™, on the other hand, delivers energy from inside the skin. Because of this, lower temperatures are effective, and the patient’s tolerance is no longer an issue. The increased collagen from ThermiRF™ treatments provides tighter, more elastic, firmer skin and allows the doctor to accurately monitor the temperature of the patient’s skin from the inside and outside at the same time.
Why Is ThermiRF™ Different from Other Radiofrequency Devices?
First, ThermiRF™ is a single treatment rather than the multiple treatments required with radiofrequency devices. Second, ThermiRF™ delivers energy under the skin rather than through the skin, eliminating discomfort while providing more targeted results.
ThermiRF™ Costs in Philadelphia, PA, and South Jersey
The costs associated with ThermiRF™ vary based on the area of the body treated, and the number of sessions required to obtain the desired results. For instance, the treatment of under-eye circles is less expensive than the treatment of cellulite on the thighs. We offer CareCredit® as a financing option. Also, check our Current Specials.
