Why choose Dr. Paul Glat for breast reduction surgery?
Dr. Paul Glat is among the most talented breast surgeons in the nation. Since 1998, he has served as Chief of Plastic Surgery and the Director of the Burn Unit at St. Christopher’s Hospital, and is exceptionally well-versed in all aspects of reconstructive surgery, including breast reductions. You can expect warmth, understanding, and personalized care throughout your journey under his care. He has established an exclusive practice with a welcoming, professional, family atmosphere – not a cold, clinical medical environment. Expect a world-class experience and a 100 percent customized surgical plan.
What is breast reduction surgery like?
The breast reduction procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Glat will make an incision under the nipple and down the breast to the inframammary fold where the breast connects to the chest. Excess tissue and skin are removed, reducing weight and volume, and, if necessary, the breasts will be lifted into a position higher on the chest. Dr. Glat may also reposition the nipples, so they are beautifully placed in the center of the breast mound to create a fresh, youthful breast shape and size.
Breast reduction recovery
You can expect a recovery period of four to six weeks following surgery. Some soreness and swelling are normal during the first two weeks, and your breasts may feel tender for up to six weeks. In light of this, they must be treated gently.
Some patients experience numbness and desensitization in the breasts for months and, on occasion, permanently. Surgical scars will fade over time, but will never disappear entirely.
