Smoothing away laugh lines and wrinkles is simple with cosmetic injections. You can turn back the clock and rejuvenate your facial appearance with the most popular facial fillers on the market offered by our elite plastic surgery practice. Dermal fillers are safe, effective, and practically painless.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are ideal for patients who want to improve their image but do not want to pursue cosmetic surgery. These fillers provide a temporary solution to:

  • Wrinkles
  • Laugh lines
  • Age lines
  • Skin pockets

Several injectable dermal filler options are available, and our team will recommend the best option for you based on your aesthetic goals and needs.

What is RHA?

RHA is the first FDA-approved Hyaluronic Acid filler used in dynamic facial folds and wrinkles.  Hyaluronic fillers are known to smooth, plump, and reshape areas with a volume deficit. Your body naturally produces hyaluronic Acid (HA). As we age, the production of HA decreases, resulting in:

  • Sagging skin
  • Fine lines
  • Wrinkles.

RHA is a new generation of Hyaluronic Acid gel, and it solves a problem in the filler market that no other filler has yet to do. RHA accomplishes this by filling in fine lines that generally get bulky with other fillers. By becoming part of your dermal structure, the filler provides natural-looking enhancement, especially in mobile areas where the skin stretches, meaning you are less likely to develop lumps like other dermal fillers.

These are exceptional HA fillers for blending and contouring the face without over-volumizing, making them the best choice for patients who want rejuvenation and enhancement without obvious over-inflation. Clinical trials have shown that the results of RHA injections can last up to 52 weeks.

Where can RHA be used?

You can use RHA injections for nearly any facial line or wrinkle. The RHA line contains three similar but slightly different formulations approved for use on dynamic facial lines and wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles and folds occur in facial areas that experience repetitive motion, such as:

  • Lips
  • Jaw
  • Smile lines
  • Cheeks

Movements such as squinting, frowning, laughing, and talking are some of the most common causes of dynamic wrinkles and folds.

Dynamic wrinkles and folds are tough to treat because dermal fillers can cause the treated area to appear stiff or unnatural when moving. RHA dermal fillers correct these issues by being resilient and adapting to your facial movements, providing a more natural look while at rest and in motion.

Dr. Glat offers the following RHA injectables:

  • RHA Redensity: RHA Redensity is the first and only FDA-approved filler for injection into both the superficial dermis and dermis to treat dynamic perioral rhytids.
  • RHA 2: RHA 2 targets dynamic moderate wrinkles on the upper face, forehead, and crow’s feet. These facial areas are exceptionally active and benefit from RHA’s resiliency. RHA 2 is also ideal for perioral lines and is considered one of the best undereye fillers.
  • RHA 3: RHA 3 treats nasolabial folds and the corners of the mouth.
  • RHA 4: RHA 4 is best for deeper nasolabial folds and deeper lines in the lower face and jaw areas. Four can be used in the midface to contour the cheeks, although this is an off-label use of the injectable.

Is RHA safe?

RHA contains lidocaine for minimal discomfort. Formulated by a Swiss company Teoxane Laboratories, RHA received approval in Europe in 2015. A gentle patented manufacturing process uses few chemical modifications to preserve the product's natural structure. In general, hyaluronic acids are less prone to reactions. Paired with the gentle manufacturing of RHA, an allergic reaction is considerably rare.

Avoid dental work (including cleaning) for three weeks before or after your filler appointment. If you are sick or taking antibiotics, you should wait until you feel well again. Additionally, if you need any immunizations, including the Covid vaccine, please get these done four weeks before your filler appointment to avoid complications.
