What is Avéli?

Avéli is a minimally invasive treatment device that is FDA to treat cellulite on the thighs and buttocks.

Cellulite is caused by fibrous cords, called septa, under the skin that connect to the muscle tissue underneath. These cords pull downward through the layer of fat cells toward the muscles, and as fat cells increase and the skin ages and thin, the pulling effect of the cords cause unwanted cellulite dimples on the skin.

Dr. Glat uses the Avéli device to identify and release the hold of the fibrous cords, releasing their grip on the skin, helping to redistribute the fat cells and allowing the skin to be smooth again. Results are long-term and require little downtime.

Benefits of Avéli

Avéli treatments provide a number of benefits for patients who want to resolve stubborn cellulite dimples. Avéli allows for precision treatments with fewer side effects. Avéli can be combined with other treatments to improve skin strength and firmness and help resolve skin laxity. Benefits include the following:

  • Avéli treatments are non-surgical and minimally-invasive
  • Achieves smoother skin
  • Effectively reduces the appearance of cellulite that appears on the buttocks and thighs
  • Results are long-lasting
  • No downtime is required
  • The recovery period is short, with mild bruising
  • Results appear after one treatment
  • Avéli is safe for all skin types
  • Mild side effects

How does Avéli work?

The procedure will begin with an injection of local anesthetic in the treatment area to ensure the experience is comfortable. Dr. Glat will make a small, carefully concealed incision. Using this incision, he will move the Avéli device beneath the skin. He will use the device to detect and sever the septae cords that are causing the cellulite dimples.

The Avéli device has a lighted tip, allowing Dr. Glat to see and target each individual band, sometimes as many as 20 septae per band, and verify that the targeted cellulite dimples have been successfully released. Once he has verified that each individual strand of the fibrous cords he is targeting has been severed, the procedure is complete.

Dr. Glat will place a small bandage and compression garment over the treatment area once he has finished. In total, the Avéli procedure takes approximately one hour. You will be able to see the initial results immediately, with more significant improvements appearing over time.

Recovery and results after Avéli procedure

Following your treatment with Avéli in Philadelphia your recovery period is short, but there will be bruising and swelling in the treatment area after your procedure. This will fade over the first week and continue to reduce in the following weeks.

Most patients can drive themselves home after treatment and return to most of their usual activities other than heavy exercise by the next day. You will need to keep your bandages on for at least two days. Strenuous exercise can be resumed after one or two weeks.

In most cases, only a single Avéli procedure is needed to achieve the desired results. While your initial results will be visible immediately after the swelling recedes, you will notice your final results in about three months.

Who is a candidate for the Avéli procedure?

Patients who have cellulite in the thighs or buttocks are candidates for Avéli. Avéli effectively resolves cellulite, but it is not a treatment for skin laxity or unwanted fat pockets. During your consultation with Dr. Glat, he will discuss your concerns and goals and determine if the Avéli procedure is right for you. Generally, ideal candidates meet the following criteria:

  • Are generally healthy
  • BMI (Body Mass Index) is 30 or lower
  • Are not pregnant
  • Are between the ages of 21-60 (typical age)
  • Would like to address cellulite dimples in the buttocks and thighs
