Dr. Paul Glat has established an exclusive plastic surgery practice in Bala Cynwyd, where we deliver medical-grade chemical peels to achieve a significant level of skin rejuvenation.

What can a chemical peel do for my skin?

To meet our patients’ needs, we offer a range of skin treatments at our cosmetic surgery practice, including chemical peels in Philadelphia. We are happy to provide non-surgical treatment options in addition to our standard array of surgical procedures, as we understand that not everyone requires plastic surgery to achieve healthier, glowing, evenly-toned skin.

With chemical peels, you can improve your complexion, reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and make age spots and freckles far less visible, or gone. If you would like to learn more about the skin treatments we offer or are interested in scheduling an appointment for a chemical peel with Dr. Paul Glat, please contact our Bala Cynwyd office today.

What is the chemical peel procedure?

Our Philadelphia chemical peel involves the application of a chemical or acidic agent to the skin that treats the top layer of the dermis so that healthy skin underneath can be exposed. The results of a chemical peel are temporary, but because the procedure can be performed quickly and is non-invasive, it is an excellent option for men and women who would like to treat superficial imperfections of the skin or who want to refresh their overall appearance. By removing the damaged or dead outer skin cells, complexion, skin color, and skin imperfections can be dramatically improved.

What is the treatment experience?

To perform a chemical peel, Dr. Glat will first thoroughly cleanse the skin to remove excess oils. The eyes and hair are covered to be protected from the chemical solution applied to the face. Once your facial skin has been prepared, the chemical solution – typically an acid, such as glycolic, salicylic, lactic, or carbolic – is applied evenly across the skin. The duration of the treatment will vary based on what type of peel is being applied, but typically the chemical peel takes no more than 15 minutes, at which point the damaged outer layer of skin is treated. After your treatment, we apply skin-renewing serums or cooling lotions and sunscreens until the healing process is complete.

Chemical peel candidates

Typically, light-skinned and light-haired individuals make the best candidates for chemical peels, but the procedure is effective for almost anyone who suffers from wrinkles, lines, poor complexion, or skin discoloration. However, you may require more comprehensive treatment to achieve the improvements you envision if you have excessive wrinkles or sagging skin.
