ThermiRF™ Procedure Process
ThermiRF™ is an outpatient procedure given during a standard office visit and requires no anesthesia. Before getting started, Dr. Glat or a staff member will mark the treatment areas clearly and apply a cool gel to the surface of the skin. Then, a small circular handheld device that emits RF waves rolls across the skin gently, targeting the skin just under the surface at the cellular level.
A tiny probe emits the RF waves according to the temperature set by Dr. Glat or the staff member. They heat the tissue just to the temperature required to stimulate collagen production.
What to Expect
Patients do feel the heat from the laser, but there is rarely any pain or discomfort. After the treatment, some redness and swelling are normal. This may last anywhere from several hours to a day, depending on the patient, but patients are permitted to resume their everyday activities immediately. Although some patients see results just a few hours after the treatment, it does take several months to see the full effects. Collagen production is a slow process. What’s more, some patients may require several treatment sessions. Once Dr. Glat or our staff member achieves the desired results, they may last from one to two years.
